“Volunteers strengthen everything we do at NEOFACS. Whether they are driving a child to an important appointment, mentoring a young person, supporting families during programming, or helping behind the scenes, their involvement makes a real and lasting difference. International Volunteer Year is about recognizing that impact and inspiring others to get involved.”

– Rachèle Pelletier, Volunteer Services Program Supervisor

About National Volunteer Week

Volunteers are at the heart of strong, healthy communities and at North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS), their dedication truly makes a difference every day in the lives of children, youth, and families.

During National Volunteer Week (April 19–25, 2026), NEOFACS proudly joins organizations across Canada in celebrating and thanking the incredible people who give their time, skills, compassion, and commitment to supporting their communities. This year’s celebration is especially meaningful, as 2026 has been declared International Volunteer Year (IVY 2026) by the United Nations (UN).

Ignite Volunteerism: A year-long, nation-building celebration

Volunteer Canada’s Ignite Volunteerism initiative invites people from all backgrounds to “Find Your Thing” by reconnecting with their communities and contributing in ways that are meaningful and accessible to them.

At NEOFACS, we see the spirit of Ignite Volunteerism brought to life through our amazing volunteers — individuals who strengthen our programs, support our staff, and help us respond to the growing needs of families.

Thank You to Our Incredible Volunteers

During National Volunteer Week 2026, and throughout the year, we proudly recognize and thank all our volunteers for their service and dedication across a wide range of roles. Their contributions fuel positive change and help us fulfill our mission of working together for the well-being and safety of children, youth, and families.

We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring group of volunteers. Throughout the year, they assist our hardworking employees and enhance our services in meaningful ways. Without their invaluable contributions, much of what we do would simply not be possible.
