A psychological assessment referral only occurs when all other possible assessments (i.e. medical assessment, psychiatry, speech and language assessment etc.) and interventions (clinical services, medication) have been tried with limited positive outcomes.

Referrals to this service are initiated internally by a North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) staff who is currently providing active service to a child/youth/family in a specific program (Counselling & Therapy services, Intensive Out-of-home services, Intensive Service Coordination Program, Child Care or Community Support Team services).

Referrals are reviewed for eligibility according to prescribed criteria, and if the assessment is approved, it is arranged and provided by a contracted service provider.

The assessment and resulting recommendations inform the on-going service provision offered by NEOFACS.

Client consent is required and participation is voluntary.
