How to Access Autism Services

The Ontario Autism Program (OAP) offers support to families of children and youth on the autism spectrum. AccessOAP is the Ontario Autism Program’s Independent Intake Organization that supports everyone registered in the Ontario Autism Program.

Eligibility:

  • There must be an Autism Diagnosis on paper.
  • The child must be under 18 and living in Ontario.

Steps to Follow:

  1. Set up your account and register your child with AccessOAP (Ontario Autism Program).
  2. Once you have an account, you can contact a care coordinator by phone or through messaging on the AccessOAP website to discuss your options and next steps.
  3. You will receive a registration number – KEEP THIS – it will be needed to access future support and services.
  4. While you wait for the Determination of Needs Assessment, you can access free foundational services from Hands The Family Help Network or One Kids Place (OKP).

      • OKP offers brief targeted consultation, transitional supports, family resource clinics, seminars, workshops, resources and video resources. For more information, call 1-866-626-9100. or visit onekidsplace.ca.
  5. Once the Determination of Needs assessment is completed, funding is allocated for the parent to purchase core clinical services. Services include:
    • Applied Behaviour Analysis
    • Speech-Language Pathology
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Mental Health Services, including counselling and/or psychotherapy
    • Technology, program materials, and/or therapy equipment recommended by a regulated professional or Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)
