KAPUSKASING & COCHRANE August 21 & August 22

North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) is preparing to celebrate summer, family and friends with the third Annual NEOFACS Summer Community Picnics.  Three events will mark this year’s celebration.  The first Community Picnic took place in Timmins on July 9th and the second in Kapuskasing on August 21st, and the third in Cochrane on August 22nd.

The Kapuskasing Community Picnic will take place Thursday August 21st  at the Riverside Park from 11:00am to 3:00pm. This year’s event is shaping up to be a dynamic and fun filled. As in past years, NEOFACS will provide a free BBQ featuring hot dogs and refreshments including bottled of water, face painting and bouncy ride.  The Ontario Early Years Center and Brighter Futures will again provide various games and activities centered on learning and playing.

Cochrane’s event will take place on Friday August 22st at beautiful Lake Commando Park from 11:00am to 1:00pm. This year’s picnic will have a free BBQ featuring hot dogs and bottled water, face painting, monster mural and a bouncy ride.  Brighter Futures will host a variety of fun and exciting games.

The third Annual Community Picnics addition of the monster mural station was made possible by a generous donation from Kidd Operations.

“We need to recognize Kidd Operations for graciously allowing us the opportunity to  be able to offer them ,” said Brooke Ballantyne, Communications Coordinator for NEOFACS, “this will add another opportunity for families to make moments matter, and to make memories.”

“Every day we work towards developing strong, healthy and safe communities where children, youth and families thrive.  Now more than ever, it is difficult for families to find moments to relax, enjoy our summer weather and spend quality time together. The Annual Community Picnics sponsored by NEOFACS provide an opportunity for us to create a family friendly event where families can make the little moments matter and make memories,” said Linda Lamarche, Program Manager for Children’s Services with NEOFACS, “this event is free and open to everyone. You don’t have to pre-register, just drop by and enjoy some family fun.”
