“We see firsthand how financial challenges can limit opportunities for families. Through fundraising initiatives with our Foundation, we can help remove some of those barriers so children and youth can take part in experiences many take for granted. With the ongoing generosity of our community, we can ensure more young people we support can attend camp, explore their interests, and create positive, lasting memories.”

About the Camp Experiences and Extracurricular Activities Program

Summer is a time for children to explore, discover, and simply enjoy being kids. As the summer break approaches, many look forward to new experiences at camps and extracurricular activities. For some children and youth, however, these opportunities can be out of reach.

The North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation is helping change that through its Camp Experiences and Extracurricular Activities Program, supporting children and youth receiving services from North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS). This community-driven initiative helps ensure more young people across our region can access enriching opportunities that support their growth, connection, and well-being.

For many families, the cost of camps or organized activities can be a significant barrier—especially as living expenses continue to rise. That’s where community support makes a meaningful difference. Donations to the program directly cover registration fees, opening the door to safe, engaging environments where children can build friendships, explore their interests, and develop confidence and life skills.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, children and youth involved in child welfare, child and youth mental health, and other supportive programs with NEOFACS can attend day camps, overnight camps, or participate in organized activities such as sports, arts, and cultural programs throughout the year. These experiences go far beyond fun—they help children and youth feel included, build resilience, and create lasting memories that shape their future.

Whether it’s attending camp for the first time or discovering a new passion, these opportunities can be life-changing. They also provide meaningful support and respite for parents and caregivers, offering peace of mind and a stronger sense of community.

How to Support the North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation

The North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation relies entirely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and community donors to support urgently-needed programs and services that are not government-funded for NEOFACS. Every donation helps to improve the lives of children, youth and families in the Districts of Cochrane and Timiskaming by supporting them in experiences that would otherwise be unattainable.

Together, we can help ensure more local children and youth have the chance to experience the joy of summer, discover their potential, and feel inspired.
