Camp Cadanac offers an exciting overnight summer camp experience that focuses on fun, adventure, learning and creativity in a safe, supportive and cooperative environment. Minutes away from Kapuskasing, Camp Cadanac is situated on beautiful Rémi Lake, with four sleeping cabins and nine buildings nestled into the boreal tree line.

Campers enjoy swimming, canoeing, arts & crafts, sports, indoor, outdoor, and waterfront games, campfires, wilderness activities and special camp sessions which include “Youth Enterprise Camp” and “Camp Create.”

Staffed by dedicated and energetic counselors, Camp Cadanac’s supervision team are experienced in: leadership, first aid, water safety and programming for recreational activities. We strive to provide an exciting, closely supervised and enriching experience for children and youth of all cultural backgrounds and needs.

Co-ed summer camp programs operate from Monday to Friday for children, ages 6 to 13. The 2017 camp season, includes a special “best of the best” camp for youth aged 12 to 16 years.

Meals, craft supplies and transportation* are included in standard weekly camp fees.
*Transportation to  and from Camp Cadanac from North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services campus locations in Hearst, Kapuskasing, Cochrane, Timmins, Kirkland Lake and New Liskeard.

­­Camp Cadanac is truly a place where youth can learn about nature, acquire new skills, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships. Through fun planned weekly themes and exciting summer activities, campers develop life-skills such as teamwork, social skills and self-confidence.

Camp Cadanac offers 7 exciting weeks of overnight camp programming. Each of the 7 weeks of camp programming include traditional, memory-making summer camp experiences.  Three weeks of “speciality” camps include: Youth Enterprise Camp, Camp Create and Camp Reunite.

Cost: $350.00 per week. Meals, craft supplies and transportation* are included in standard weekly camp fees.

 Regular Camp Programming

Regular camp programming provides campers the opportunity to experience week-long adventures through a supportive summer camp experience Camp programming blends nature with recreation and learning.

Camp Cadanac campers will enjoy traditional camp experiences such as bonfires, swimming, hiking, canoeing, arts & crafts, as well as indoor and outdoor games.

Campers will gain confidence while exploring natural areas such as our lake shore and walking trails. They will further learn about local plants and small animals through identification games and bird watching.  Campers will work together to develop positive and confident attitudes toward themselves and others in a non-competitive, supportive and educational environment.

Specialty Camps

Specialty camp programs are developed  as a response to community needs and interests and are described below.

Camp Create: August 8 to 12

A camp experience that allows Aboriginal youth to rediscover their heritage. Some of the items and activities included are “Walking the Path” “The Sacred Fire” “The Smudging Ceremony” and “Traditional Feast” as well as making bannock, dream catchers and all other regular camp activities.

Camp Reunite: August 23 to 25 (3 day camp)

This special week of camp offers families the chance to reconnect with a 3 day retreat of traditional summer camp activities. Siblings, cousins and close friends have the opportunity to spend some quality time creating life long memories. Campers will enjoy all the activities Camp Cadanac has to offer including hiking, swimming, arts and crafts and in addition, will have the opportunity to create a special scrapbook with their camp experience.

Youth Enterprise Camp:  July 4 to 8 (ages 9-13)

What is Youth Enterprise Camp?

During “Youth Enterprise Camp” campers learn about entrepreneurship through a variety of games and activities and have the opportunity to run their own “Business for a Day.” Teen campers also prepare and complete a business plan as part of the week long camp.

The objectives of camp are to:

  1. Provide youth and teens with a fun and exciting introduction to the world of entrepreneurship;
  2. Enable teens to complete a business plan, and  support both youth and teens to start, run and close down their business in one day; and,
  3. Encourage campers to see entrepreneurship as a future viable career option;

What will you do at Youth Enterprise Camp?

As a camper, you spend 5 days making new friends and enjoying summer activities while learning about the world of business. You will enjoy swimming, hiking, theme nights, mini Olympics, camp fires, marketing games, role playing, entrepreneurship training and so much more.  As a novice entrepreneur you will get a chance to start your very own business taking your product from conception to market and even making a little money during “Business for a Day.”

Camp Essentials

Campers are to bring the following items to camp: pillow, sleeping bag, sun screen, bug repellent spray, socks, underwear, bathing suit, towel, toothpaste, hair brush, pajamas, plain white t-shirt, pants, shorts, running shoes, sandals, hat, sunglasses, t-shirts and tank tops.
